Will it work out if you want to take dentistry and you are left handed? My mom tells me that it would be a hassle.

Nothing to worry about, not only am I left handed, but I am ALSO a dentist! Your office and procedure equipment can be easily adapted to fit those of us who are left handed. Good luck!
Reply:Do you plan to be a dentist or work in the office as an auxillary (hygienist, assistant)? If you are the dentist you will make all the equipment fit a left-handed person. If you are just working as an auxillary it can be slightly harder. It depends on how the rooms are laid out. There are several left-handed hygiene students in the program I work with.
Reply:as far as i can tell i don't think that should matter or hold you back from what you really wanna do! i hope you are successful in life!

Reply:There are many people in the dental field who are left handed and are very good at their work. If you want to do this, go for it!

Very few professions are easy on the southpaw.
Reply:Not a hassle at all.

Dental schools usually have equipment that are convertible for use by either rightie or leftie dental students, ditto the equipment you can buy once you get into private practice.

You will do fine.
Reply:HELLO,

THIS IS A GOOD QUESTION. FYI MOST DENTISTS ARE RIGHT HANDED, BUT CHAIRS AND OPERATORIES CAN EASILY BE ADAPTED TO LEFTIES. THE DOMINANT HAND HAS NO IMPACT ON THE QUALITY OFDENTISTRY.

JUST LIKE LEARNING TO WRITE, ADAPTING AS A LEFTIE IS NOT AN IMPEDIMENT TO A SUCCESSFUL CAREER.
Reply:NO PROBLEM AT ALL.

I have 5 dentist friends that are left handed. You just have to buy a dentist chair unit that is left handed. But other than that, no problem at all!
Reply:No it isnt a hassle anymore. In olden days schools used to teach students right handed method only. Now schools teach for right handed and left handed. So you can use which ever hand you like best. Not a big deal anymore now that thinking has evolved.
