I understand that pre- dentistry is not a major but a program that you are in and then you have to major in?

something within that...so if i wanted to become a dentist what else could i major in besides a science like biology or chemistry...something thats a little more interesting? im just confused because at first i thought pre- dentistry was a major and i had my mind set on majoring in that but since it isnt i want to major in something that i think is interesting because i do have to stick with it for 4 years before going into dental school.

I understand that pre- dentistry is not a major but a program that you are in and then you have to major in?
Predentistry students take the same classes as Premed. You can major in anything -- as long as you take the right prerequisites. But think about it -- those who have more than the minimum requirements have an edge in getting in %26amp; have an edge after they get in. Those students tend to major in chemistry or biology.

You might want a more exciting major -- but you have to ask yourself the question -- do you want a more exciting major now, or a better shot at getting the acareer that you want in the future?
Reply:When I started college, I was in pre-dentristy and my major was chemistry. You can probably major in whatever you want, but you will still have to take all of the science classes in order to have the knowledge base to take the dental school entrance exam and to succeed in dental school. I hated the chemistry, so I switched to an accounting major. Good luck!
