Chances for Medicine/Dentistry??

I am from the UK(but not native) and have been living here for 2 years on temparary residency visa. I have done my A-Levels in Biology(B), Chemsitry(C), Physics(D) and Maths(B) . I am doing a resit for chemistry to make it upto B or A. Do i have fair chances in getting into university here in the UK for dentistry or medicine? What other options are available to me for uni?

Also, what can i do for getting into uni for med/dent ? even as a mature student? any idea???

Chances for Medicine/Dentistry??
The simple answer is no. With the A Level grades you have there, it is not enough to get into medicine. The usual offer is AAB.

However, this is for undergraduate entry (after you leave school), if you really want to become a doctor, then you could do a regular degree first in something like Biology, Biomedical Science, Microbiology etc, and then enter a medicine programme afterwards; provided you get a good degree.

See the site http://futuredoctor.co.uk for information about this topic.
Reply:Generally to get into medicine you need very good grades first time with Chemistry being essential then others from maths, physics and biology. It depends on the individual universities. As lots of folks will have good grades you need other factors like voluntary work in a relevant field. All the best to you.
Reply:Chemistry and Biology at Grade A with Physics and Maths at B should get you an interview. But do not admit you are not bothered whether it is for dentistry or Medicine. You must go for your main choice and have some answers to the "why do you want to be a doctor?" type of question.

I agree that evidence of voluntary work helps once you are inside the interview door, but very good grades are needed to open that door.
Reply:Erm your grades seem to be pretty low-Sorry! However Kings College Univeristy do a course known as "Access to Medicine", which provides oppurtunities for those who do not get the AAA or AAB grades to study medicine. However this course runs for 6 years unlike 5 years.
