I am currently a senior in high school, and I was considering pre-dentistry as the path that I should follow. However, pre-dentistry is NOT a major at my future university. So, I am very confused as to what to major in. PLEASE HELP!
I appreciate your time and help!
What is the BEST dentistry major?
biology, pre-med, chemistry, really any of the science majors. Look up a few dentistry schools you might consider attending and check out their requirements. Many medical/dental/etc schools don't require a math/science major as long as you have taken certain classes.
Reply:hmm thats strange im looking at dentistry too but many of the colleges i was looking at have predental as a major, at least in CA.
i would guess biology or biochemistry
but you should try this site http://forums.studentdoctor.net/
they have forums dedicated to dentistry and dental students, a lot of good information and helpful people- a lot of times actual dentists or dental students.
good luck becoming a dentist! :)
Reply:A good background in biology, chemistry, anatomy %26amp; physiology, physics, and the requisite math courses for those will prepare you very well for a dental program. Those are all elements of a "pre-dentistry" program. When you get there, your counselors can help you select the appropriate courses.
Reply:You have a long way to go before you get to a specialty.
I would guess ORTHODONTURE considering that they charged me for two kids. I could have bought a car.
Reply:Schools that you will apply to want to see a strong background in science-anatomy,chemistry, pharmacy, biology......personally, in the 'real' world-you should take as many business classes as you can. Dentistry is about running a small business well. So if your current school doesn't have a pre dentistry major, it should be Biology (with a businesss minor)-my 2 cents.
Reply:The most advanced and the greatest gain in dentistry is currently being made in the field of cosmetic dentistry. Also, it is a great way to help people regain their self-image.
