How can i practise dentistry in USA ( if i'm candidate ) ?

well , please if u can help me , i graduate this year ( 2006-2007) from university of baghdad / college of dentistry , and i'm thinking to practise dentistry or do my general dental residency in usa , but , i've some questions :


1st , is there any way to practise dentistry in usa other than the enrolement in International dental program ( IDP ) ? if yes , how ? even if it's limited to some states .


2nd , is there any programs for the foriegn trained detnist to do the residency in usa ?


3rd , if i take a master degree as candidate without attend the IDP , can i practise in usa ? even if it's limited to some states

I certainly can't blame you for wanting to leave Baghdad. It's a tragedy what the US has done to your country.


You can do your dental residency here by applying directly to the university programs you may want to join.


I doubt you would be able to stay in the US after you finish your residency, though. I believe the US already has enough trained dentists. You may be able to stay if you agree to practice in underserved ares, like rural Kentucky or Tennessee.


Check the US Department of State's website to see if dentists are a profession in demand. If it is, you will probably be allowed to immigrate legally.
