I actually chose and have a place in Mech Eng after considering my results and financial constraints. So i wanted to ask whether after finishing a mech eng degree would any university allow me to use the mech eng degree to go for a degree in dentistry.Or is there any other way to go about becoming a dentist?

Hello. I don't see any problem with pursuing dentistry after getting your mech eng degree. My friend is an aspiring dentist and I don't know of any dental school that requires you to have one specific degree. As long as you have some 4 year degree in something you're good to go. Most pre-dental people choose majors related somewhat to health, such as nutrition or something, so in a way your mech eng degree may be a good thing since it makes you seem like a well rounded person and will make you stand out to the admissions committee. One caveat though, you're going to have to take a whole lot of classes though, because I imagine that there is not a whole lot of overlap between the requirements for mech eng and the prerequisites for dental admissions. Check it out though and good luck!!
